Meet Your Tutor

More Than Just a Tutor.

I’m Jahid Hassan, a CFA charterholder and CFP Professional who has tutored accounting and finance one-on-one for more than 5 years. With a background in wealth management, asset management, and consulting, I bridge the gap between textbook theory and the real world — I don’t just teach you how to calculate the numbers, I teach you why they matter.

Whether you’re struggling with your first intro accounting course or diving into advanced corporate finance, I break each topic into logical steps that stick — so the concepts hold up when it counts: the exam.

My Background

From the real world to the whiteboard

For more than 10 years I’ve worked across wealth management, asset management, and consulting — the exact places where the accounting and finance you’re studying actually gets used — while helping Canadian students master it along the way. I’m a CFA charterholder and CFP Professional, and I hold an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary — which meant learning this material to a professional standard, not just to pass a test.

That’s the perspective I bring to every session: I’ve seen where these concepts lead, so I can tell you which ideas are load-bearing and which are just noise — and why the numbers matter beyond the exam.

My Approach

Understand it, and the marks follow

Most students don’t struggle because the material is impossible — they struggle because it’s taught as a pile of formulas to memorize. My approach is the opposite.

Start with the “why”

Once you understand the logic behind a journal entry or a valuation, you stop memorizing and start reasoning.

Break it into steps that stick

Every topic becomes a repeatable method you can run on any exam question — not a one-off you have to relearn.

Built around your course

I teach to your syllabus, textbook, and exam — Canadian curriculum, IFRS/ASPE where it applies — so nothing we cover is wasted.

Exam-focused

We practice the way you’ll be tested, so exam day feels like something you’ve already done.

FAQ

Questions students ask

Do you tutor online, or only in Calgary?

Both. Sessions are 1-on-1 and online, so I work with Canadian university students right across the country. I’m based in Calgary, but you don’t need to be.

Which courses do you cover?

The core accounting and finance courses: Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Financial Management — from first-year intro through advanced material. See all subjects.

How much does it cost?

1-on-1 tutoring is $75/hour. If a few classmates are prepping for the same midterm or final, small-group exam-prep is $40 per student, per hour.

1-on-1 or group — which should I pick?

One question decides it: is your problem shared or personal? Pick group exam-prep when you and classmates are studying for the same exam and want a lower price. Pick 1-on-1 when you need help on your specific weak spot, assignment, or pace.
